What to Expect

  • The Fairways Cantina Men’s Open Championship takes place at Morris Williams Golf Course in Austin, Texas on Saturday, May 16th.

    8:00am - Registration Opens (Check-In desk situated in Pavilion. Players will receive their welcome bag & range token).

    9:00am - Rolling tee times begin.

    (be sure to confirm your tee time via emailed tee sheet)

  • Two-Man Gross Best Ball

    Designated tournament tees will be used for all players.

    Maximum one single-digit handicap per team.

    Handicap indexes are subject to verification. Please enter accurate information.

    Sandbagging will not be tolerated.

  • The winning team will hoist the Fairways Cantina Men’s Championship trophy and have their photo displayed in the clubhouse along side the trophy for the next year.

    Prizes will be awarded for Top 5 gross scores.

  • We will meet back at the cantina for an evening of celebration on Saturday, May 16th.

    Event start time is 7pm.

    We will have music and entertainment from acclaimed local bluegrass band The Owens Brothers.

    Dinner will be provided by Fairways Cantina and will consist of our famed Tex-Mex appetizer spread and the Cantina Taco Bar.

    Event sponsors, Heaven Hill, will be providing free frozen margaritas in addition to hosting an Elijah Craig tasting experience.

    Event sponsors, St Elmo Brewing, Zilker Brewing and Austin Beer Works will be providing a range of beverages free for your consumption.

    While the band breaks and refuels, we will announce tournament winners, prizes and our winning raffle tickets.

  • Championship will be played under official USGA rules of golf.

    No mulligans, gimmies, or bonus strokes.

    Expected pace of play: 4 hours 30 minutes.

    Ties will be resolved using the countback method.

    Following play, scorecards must be submitted to the PGA Professional at the check-in table.

    The tournament committee reserves the right to verify handicap indexes and make adjustments or disqualifications for inaccurate reporting.

If you’re feeling ready, go ahead and register your team!

  • Fairways Cantina will not be offering a match-making service. Teams will have to be set at the point of purchase.

    We will, however, be placing a free agent sign up sheet on the main Morris Williams notice board. Individuals will be able to leave their name, contact and handicap for other interested parties.

  • Event registration will close on Saturday May 9th.

  • Yes you can, with two stipulations.

    1) The one single digit handicap per team rule must still be adhered to.

    2) It must be done before the deadline of Saturday May 9th.

  • Cancelations made prior to our Saturday May 9th deadline will receive a full refund minus a $10 service fee.

    Any cancellation/no show after that date will forfeit registration fees.

  • The tournament will go ahead rain or shine. In the case of severe weather, golf course management will have final say on playability.

    In the rare situation the tournament was unable to go ahead. We would primarily look to reschedule, and following that, cancel with full refunds.

    Plus 1’s are encouraged. There is a payment link on the tournaments’ landing page.

    Wristbands will be provided at the Evening Award Party registration table.
